The Island is a track from Mairearad's latest album inspired by The Summer Isles in the North West of Scotland.

Short as the rowan
On this ledge of an island,
Throwing out berries
That fall with the light,
Is this time.

Full as the lochan
Of sun-sparkled water
That flows out of the darkness
Is my heart.

And low lies the longing
In the folds of this morning
As I take my leaving
And never look back.

The Island,
the ruins and
the memories.
